This very small space needed to look smart and modern to fit with the new patio doors and interior, whilst remaining appropriate for a Victorian Cambridge town property. Two shades of granite were used here with strip sections to add detail and a formal structure to this rather awkward space. The existing fences were replaced with double slatted screening to neatly tie in the nice existing wall with a road boundary. Top-worked false acacia trees (Robinia pseudoacacia Umbraculifera) were used to add interest at the upper level, without too much light or space being blocked out below. Richard’s lovely planting brings the space to life.
