The brief for this large garden was to take the existing unkempt space and create a family garden split into ‘rooms’ creating grown up areas for entertaining, children’s areas, wild areas and productive areas. We designed a contemporary parterre garden with relaxed new perennial style planting merged with traditional structure. Repetition in the planting provides linkage and cohesion between the spaces.
The adults have two entertaining areas and the children have a generous lawn space for games and fun. A secret children’s walkway through the perimeter shrub planting spills out at the hazel circle. An orchard has been planted in amongst the wild flowers to bring wildlife into the garden too.
