This project was like adding a large extension to the house rather than designing a small garden. The garden needed to function as a room for comfort and relaxation in the good weather, and a full-wall changing picture for the rest of the time. The living room became visually extended with the addition of bi-fold doors and the newly designed space. The design suggested timber or composite decking and Cor-Ten steel planters. The clients chose the composite decking Millboard for both purposes since the bespoke Cor-Ten steel became prohibitively expensive. The design includes a ramp from the back gate for the easy access of bikes to the bike shed near the house.
